This is Lacey, from the time I adopted her in July, (top) up to now (bottom), she is about to turn one on the nineteenth of this month. She has been my constant companion.

Only The Good!
Tonight as I arrived home, I checked my facebook and had not 1 but 2 e- mails.
First, Shelly accepted me as her friend, which was nice (thank you Shelly), AND the #2 e-mail was from Doug Kershaw. I'm a small town nobody, but I adore, adore, adore listening to this man play the fiddle! AND to have him take the time to send me an e-mail, knocked my socks off.........THANK YOU DOUG....you made my day!

Only the Good
Today was the first day of the second half of a six day mini-vacation for me. That was enough to be posted as my only the good, but I also got to treat a friend to a realllllly good fish dinner. Number 2 reason to post to only the good, but there were a few young, good looking men who were playing pool right beside the table (eye candy) again, reason number 3, they were sweet and flirting with the 2 old...er, ladies (Marilyn & me) ...reason #4. The conversation was good, the atmosphere was fine, and the beer was cold...reasons 5 & 6...Now to say the one young man was sooo good looking would be an understatement, BUT he was wearing a recent fashion statement that I cannot understand, ie: his pants were worn below his buttock and belted there, so I had to speak up. I waited and went up to him as I was leaving and asked IF I might make a comment and not anger him...he smiled and his buddies started to giggle. Evidently, they too had made a comment on his style choice, as their pants were properly placed upward.
He was so cute, and I said "I know it's the style, but I am an old woman, and I can speak for the majority of us, we check out young men, especially when they are as handsome as you, (here is when he turned RED)but the first thing we check out is the bootee, and you're not giving yours a chance!" What a sweetie he was, just saying "I have great bootee!"
AT 60 you can get away with outlandish things you can't at 20 something. Being 60 is my reason #7 ....all in all it was a good time.

Only the Good
Yesterday it was like Spring here in North Western Pennsylvania. The road crews were out clearing out the dirty piles of accumulated snow, and the Sun was shining down on the freshly plowed roads. All n all, it was like rebirth.
Today, I awoke to a freshly blanketed yard, street and car. Again, Ol' Man Winter, popped up and covered us with a fresh comforter of snow. I was looking forward to being warm again, but this was an expected surprise.
Normally, I listen to the Chicago noon news and weather, because it seems to be a better representation of what to expect here, than does the Pittsburgh station. (That's because on Dish, they consider Pittsburgh to be my local station, but we still get the lake effect weather from Erie.) I was prepared for the snow, as I am prepared for rain tomorrow, which will mean icy roads.
By now you would expect me to be fed up with the snow, which after all has been tremendous, this year, but for some strange reason, I am enjoying this second chance to be amazed at the beauty and crispness it brings to the morning.
Our cottage at work is getting four transfers from another building, and the ladies are a welcome addition to our little family group. They are higher functioning ladies with outside interests, and "boyfriends" that will be visiting on occasion (platonic) and may even join in at the weekly get-togethers.
To sum it up, fresh air, crisp clean atmosphere, new friends, and new ideas and plans...what' not to love....it's "Only the Good" to a tee.

Only the Good
Comments and Graphics
As sun sines through my window pane and dances on the floor,
It brings many happy memories of recent days of yore.
Thoughts of happy children, singing, playing games,
Running, skipping, hopscotch, minor scrapes and pains.
Broken dolls and broken dreams, growing into youth,
Learning, teaching, seeking and reaching for the truth.
Now's the time to go ahead, find some other dreams,
Fill your life with happiness, sunlight and moon beams.
Take time to stretch and reach your goals, save time to keep in touch,
Find pleasure in some solitude and the lives that you have touched.
May all your lives be touched today, the way you hoped it would,
Forget whatever makes you sad, remember "ONLY THE GOOD."

Only the Good
Sitting here in my warm comfortable living room, with my steaming hot cup of Cinnamon Givalia coffee,(that my daughter tells me is good for slowing down Dementia) I was trying to think of something to to post on Shelly's OTG post.
It's not that there is not much good going on in my life, I have a job I love that just happens to be extremely rewarding, my bills are pretty much caught up since the last sojourn into the court system,(I won, by the way)the Steelers are on their way to the Superbowl, and I think I FINALLY got that ol' flu beat. It's just that there is nothing noteworthy about all that stuff.
It's still snowing here, 4 to 6 inches of the old white coming down again for the third day in a row, and it is so overcast, that it's hard to tell it's daytime. I know the truth in the fact, that the lack of sunlight really messes with your mood. I can hardly wait for Spring.
But, and I can't stress this enough, we live in the greatest country in the world, in the best of times, and in general, LIFE IS GOOD.
I have plenty of food, a comfortable hovel, a great relationship with my daughter, nobody to answer to if I want to let the housework pile up around me while I cuddle with my dog on the couch and read, I have friends around, and enough money in the bank to pay the bills and a little left over to blow on the non essentials of life.
I have a large box of scented candles, incense wands and cones, and essential oils, that I burn/light to zone me into my "Special Place"...LIFE REALLY IS GOOD.
I'm thankful that I am not rich, I would be a mess if I had to worry what this recession was going to threaten my way of life. I'm not in a position where this recession will even change my circumstances, and for me it's life as usual.
Our new President is submitting the bill to send us a $500 per taxpayer check, the lawyer said I won the case, so I should be getting my back pay soon...LIFE IS REALLY REALLY GOOD!
So now as I read back in this post, I guess I do have a OTG post after all!
May all of you truly enjoy this day, and may we all be thankful for all the good in our daily lives.

Only the Good
It actually is a beautiful day, here in Nowhereville, the sun is shining, the roads are clear, I have a steaming cup of fresh Cinnamon Gevalia coffee and a chocolate covered cream puff and 2 hours to spare before I need to head out to work.
Romeo is curled up on the couch sleeping and enjoying the sunlight coming through the window.
And the best part....IT'S PAYDAY!
Today, at work we're cooking for the ladies and ourselves. We're having sausage and peppers hogies with fried potatoes (done in bacon grease) and having Oprah's favorite float (made with orange sherbert and ginger ale) for desert!
LIFE IS GOOD!

An Ode To Bloggers/Only the Good
Free Comments and Graphics
With Christmas barely over, The stores have changed again
With hearts and little Cupids, and Valentines to send.
Out come the big red boxes, all filled up to the brim,
With luscious, creamy candies to keep us far from thin!
There's lace and silken ribbons atop the giant box,
And psalms of love and laughter, of which this day's a part.
Have you ever stopped to wonder, why we need a special day
To tell some we love them, and care 'bout what they say.
Today, I'll change my habits! I'll tell people that I care.
That my life would be a sadder place, if they had not been there.
I shall compose a poem, to the bloggers that I know...
And tell them how just reading them has helped to let me grow,
Into a better person, who's not afraid to care,
And who is very grateful to everyone out there.
This is written SPECIALLY for each and every one...
I'm glad each time I read a post, it certainly is fun.
So please don't ever doubt it, just put away those fears...
And know how very very much, that you are cared for here.

Only the Good

YES, I am addicted to good coffee. and I have a refrigerator brimming with my favorite flavors: cinnamon, pecan, German chocolate cake, kona,etc..I am curled up in the couch with a steaming fresh cup, my laptop, 3 pieces of peanut butter fudge and a cream horn. On my feet are hot pink sleep socks bought last year at the local Bed and Bath, and the rest of me is wrapped up in my navy blue down comforter. Romeo is sleeping near my feet on the couch, and I have the next 2 days off...it's good to be home, warm and indulgent!

Only the Good
Tomorrow starts our celebration of Yule, and since this was such a good day, I thought I would post an ONLY THE GOOD post and also send out my wishes for a Happy Yule.
Today the weather was rainy and miserable, but I got a ride to work with Terry P. and we all (3 others who needed a ride)had a great time, laughing and talking. At work, I was told that I got the transfer I had asked for, and I worked with some old friends and a new friend, and the night went by so fast. I had made some macaroni salad, and it was GREAT! Then when I got home, guess what!!!!! There was my long awaited paycheck from 12/12/08.
So all in all this was a FUN--GREAT--GOOD day, but I guess, technically, because of the hour, I missed Friday....no matter, because, Friday was GREAT!
