A Fairwell to Dawnie

My world is so much dimmer.
Since you're no longer here.
The days will pass more slowly,
Since He has called you there.
Your friends will hold a vigil,
We'll gather 'round and pray.
Your pain, at last is over...
You left our side, today.
No more we'll hear your laughter,
Nor see your smiling face.
You're gone, but not forgotten...
No one can take your place.

YES, I am addicted to good coffee. and I have a refrigerator brimming with my favorite flavors: cinnamon, pecan, German chocolate cake, kona,etc..I am curled up in the couch with a steaming fresh cup, my laptop, 3 pieces of peanut butter fudge and a cream horn. On my feet are hot pink sleep socks bought last year at the local Bed and Bath, and the rest of me is wrapped up in my navy blue down comforter. Romeo is sleeping near my feet on the couch, and I have the next 2 days's good to be home, warm and indulgent!

HURRY 2009

I appeal to the Goddess, the Lord, my Guardian Angel, and the Hawk, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, let the new year come quickly. This year,(actually this last quarter of the year)has been the worst I can remember. The accident at work, the death of my dear friend, the impending death of another, no money...(yes, again this pay, they have not paid me) and the furnace going out, and the bills mounting up have put me in a blue funk. HURRY 2009.

In all honesty, I have my health..and Art and Ben haven't (arthritis and BenGay)been giving me too much trouble. I have a new furnace, and I still have my job, my house, and food, and Mo and Billy are happy and healthy, and all the critters are doing well, so I really have no right to complain, but I still can't wait for the times and tides to turn.

Today, I decided to catch up on paying the bills, but because of the snafu with my paycheck and nobody in until Monday, I just hibernated under the covers.

Kim (at work) made me a big box of the worlds best peanut butter fudge, and Romeo and I had a piece and shared a warm snuggle on the couch and watched the boob tube. We are going to share some more, and watch my latest Netflix tape(Steven Seagal), maybe read a little, and enjoy being off for the rest of the weekend.

I hear the freshly brewed coffee sending me a message that it is ready for me to enjoy, so I guess that's where I'm headed....goodnight all!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE NET.......It's Christmas....go open your presents!

Eat Christmas cookies, watch football games, stuff yourself with turkey, ham, goose, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green been casserole....plum pudding(?), and eggnog.

Call your parents and wake them up at the crack of dawn, like you did when you were little...ah maybe not....they might not like hearing their adult children saying things like "Wake up mom, Nan....look it snew!"

But then again, they were probably not up all night putting toys together, so they might be rested and just dying to be awakened to hear what Santa brought.

Whatever else you do, wish all those who touch your life a joyous season, whatever they celebrate, take the time to hug one another, and bless all of you, whoever, and wherever you are and thank you for bringing joy into my life and the life of everyone reading whatever you type, post, and share.

December Wish

On this joyous season, remember days gone by...
Memories of sleighs and reindeer flying high in the sky.
Of a big jolly man in a red velvet suit...
And happy young children , so chubby and cute.
The smells of the season, cookies, pies and much more,
And presents made by Santa and not from the store.
Wen families gather without one unkind word..
And only good tidings and carols are heard.
My wish for you bloggers,
For whatever it's worth,
Good tidings, best wishes,and
Peace here on Earth.

Childhood memories

Sometimes you get a song stuck in your head, mostly it annoys the ____ out of you. This is one of the other songs. You know the ones that live in the back of your mind and bring a smile to your lips and a twinkle in your eye. This was played with 2 other short clips on the old Bozo show. See if you can guess the song from the following 3 pictures....and if you do....can you remember the words?

The two other songs that came along for the ride with this one were "Here Comes Susie Snowflake" and of course "Frosty".

Just 3 days 'till Christmas...
I still have no tree...
It seems too much trouble...
For Romeo and me.

We'll have Christmas dinner.
We'll eat 'till we're full.
We'll then take a nap,
On this Christmas/Yule.

Then I'll go to work,
And Romeo will howl.
He thinks I'll stay home...
If he continues to yell.

But the place where I work...
Can never shut down.
The people I tend to
Need care all year 'round.

It's not really a hospital.
It's not really a school...
But they just need some people,
And that's kind-a cool.

So I head off to work,
With a song in my heart.
And hope that this season,
Fills some place in your heart.

For the best part of the season,
Is the things that we share,
And letting someone special..
Know how much we care.

So here's to all bloggers...
Tho we're scattered about.
May you celebrate giving
"Tis what it's about.

Only the Good

Tomorrow starts our celebration of Yule, and since this was such a good day, I thought I would post an ONLY THE GOOD post and also send out my wishes for a Happy Yule.

Today the weather was rainy and miserable, but I got a ride to work with Terry P. and we all (3 others who needed a ride)had a great time, laughing and talking. At work, I was told that I got the transfer I had asked for, and I worked with some old friends and a new friend, and the night went by so fast. I had made some macaroni salad, and it was GREAT! Then when I got home, guess what!!!!! There was my long awaited paycheck from 12/12/08.

So all in all this was a FUN--GREAT--GOOD day, but I guess, technically, because of the hour, I missed matter, because, Friday was GREAT!

"Bad Boys"

Just awaiting my hair to dry before going to work, when a commercial came on and reminded me that I have a taste for "Bad Boys", and thought you might like a small peek into my twisted psyche.
So where are all the gorgeous Werewolves hiding?
So who are your "Fantasy" nibbles?

Then there came Eric

"These are a few of my favorite things.."

In keeping with the season, I went around my (badly in need of cleaning)place, and took (seeing that it is no longer technically Thursday) 13 pictures of SOME of my favorite things. I hope you enjoy my eclectic taste:

TT#175 (#1)

Thirteen Things about
Pennsylvania in Winter to love

Being old and feeble minded, I am attempting this with hopes of doing it right.

1. The way the moonlight reflects on new fallen snow.
2. The smell of crisp cold air.
4. The way fresh snow covers up the mud and leaves left over from fall.
5. First Night
6. Hot cocolate with marshmallows.
7. Warm cozy quilts.
8. Christmas carols.
9. Christmas movies.
10.Seeing Romeo play in the snow.
11.The ice sculptures in downtown Franklin
12.Turkey, cranberry sauce, and Pumpkin Pie

just bitchin

If you didn't know, I got hurt at work in September, and the comp carrier declined my accident. I was off work for 6 weeks without pay. Since I was hurt, I could not collect unemployment. When I returned to work, I had to work 15 days before I could get a pay for 1 day, which was eaten up by taxes, so 2 more weeks without money for a total of 10 weeks. TODAY! Well, really Friday, my paycheck was bounced back, because it had a wrong account number, so my car payment bounced, the bank, thankfully paid it and added a $25 fee, which leaves me in the hole, and my car inspection and repair are being held hostage, because there is no money to cover the $200 repair and it needs tires, before I can get it inspected which runs out 12/31.

Sort of reminds me of "Gloom, despair and agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery...If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.Gloom, despair, and agony on me!"

My so-called greenthumb

As you can see, I am a plant killer, a perpetual brown-thumb aficionado, who, though with good intentions, kill the lovely little green things that I continue to buy, nurse to death, and love for their short lifespan in my domicile. These are 2 of my latest acquisitions, and although I think one is Aloe, I have no idea what the other is. Pathos, however, seem to hold on to life here somewhat better.

The plant-gene, was lost on me, and I find that hard to fathom, because for generations, the women in our family have had great luck with plants. My mother, could take cut roses, sent to her for many occasions, stick them into a potato and plant them, only to end up with glorious rose bushes that thrived for years.

And then there is my daughter, who can cultivate anything green.

I however did get the craft-gene, and Mo, did not wish to cultivate that one so much. She has a recessive craft-gene, because, although she has the ability, she does not have the desire so much.

I have a ton of gardening books, and I have gone so far as to bake potting soil in the oven (to the screams of my Mom) only to be rewarded with a very lush and happy weed. So I have resigned myself to the task of giving lovely green things a short, but well loved life and early death.

AFairwell to Terry

A new Angel got his wings today

One of the sweetest souls I had the pleasure to care for, passed from this life to a much better place a little over 24 hours ago.
His name was Terry, and everyone who had the pleasure to know him is feeling the loss. Terry had a smile that would light up the cosmos, and even though he had no voice, you know he could make you laugh just by the twinkle in his eyes.

May the Creator, hold him in the palm of his hand, and give him all that he lacked on earth.

Giving thanks

Today is the first time I have been able to buy groceries since the accident back in mid September. Today I treated myself to cream puffs, coffee ice cream, and a new book (which for the life of me, I can't find) With the temperature in the low 30's, and nothing on the idiot tube, I planned to cuddle on the couch with a good book, a cup of coffee, and something sweet. Well, I have tons of books in my yet-to-read pile, so until the new book turns up, I'll make due. "Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful", so, "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!"

Here we are again in the last month of the year. It is hard to believe that, not only is it the 12th month, but also nearly the 9th year of the new millennium. It seems like only yesterday we were all worried about the computers failing to handle 2000, but I still haven't started on my New Years Resolutions for last year!

Here's to all the friends we lost in 2008. I wish them well on their journey. Here's to all the friends we still have with us. Here's to family here and gone...2 and 4 legged both, for they hold a special place in our hearts. And here's to all that we may meet and touch in all the days to come.

Today, I shall take some time to reflect on all the beauty and love that has touched my life in the last 60 plus years, and thank the Creator for all the blessings I have received, and hope you all have a few minutes to reflect on all who touch your life, also.
